Underground Railroad 2023

Hmm - technical difficulties.  Not sure when I’ll be back on line.   Got the computer fixed once I got home, so I can now resume the blog................. Long day.....  I'm not starting this until after dinner, so this morning seems like a long time ago!  As per usual, it seems we started the morning with a bit of backtracking.  We started by going back (east) over the Tennessee River/Kentucky Lake.  And - a look back at our lodging from the bridge. We rode on US 79 for the first 11 miles.  Pros - no dogs and a wide shoulder.  Cons - the shoulder was strewn with logging truck debris.  Not our first day of this, but the first day I've thought to mention it.  There has been quite a bit of logging activity right from the start of our ride, but even those trucks have been very well behaved.   At 11 miles we turned left onto The Trace Road which took us into the "Land Between the Lakes".   This used to be the "Land Betwee...

First rest day - yay!  Not much to do here, so it might just be a true rest day.  And that's ok with me.  A leisurely breakfast and then a small group of us did a hike on a designated trail on the property - the Raptor Ridge Trail.  Nice to give some different muscles a little exercise!  And nice to be in the shade...... Some nice views of the lake.............. .......... and back to the Lodge where we are staying, as well as the bridge we came over to get here. So many beautiful little shells on the shore.  I may be bringing some home............. Lots of talk about ticks around these parts, so we all checked ourselves when we got back.  I didn't find any, but then about 15 minutes later a few of us were sitting in the lobby and Linda spied one crawling up my shirt.  Hopefully that was all I had!   Emily had left out some leftovers for us to lunch on so I did that, helped Val with her RWGPS, cleaned my bike, and then took a look around...
